About counselling with Liz
I am a person centred/integrative counsellor with many years experience helping people develop greater self-understanding and self-acceptance. I can support you to build upon your existing coping strategies and feel better prepared to face life's challenges.
My specialisms are; loss, trauma, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. I have been working as a counsellor for 11 years and before this in the mental health sector for 10 years as a support worker. This has given me a breadth of experience in working with individuals in a person-centred way, tailoring my approach to the differing needs of each client. Sometimes you may need a space to offload, some clients prefer to work with goals and develop new coping strategies, some clients like to be challenged- the key here is that I will work with you in the way that feels right for you.
What to expect when we first meet
It can feel daunting reaching out for support and speaking to someone new about your problems takes courage.
The first session gives you a space to explore what you would like to gain from counselling and for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me.
I welcome you to give me a ring or email to chat about what to expect from counselling and to ask any questions. Sometimes clients find speaking first reduces anxiety before the first session.
